Sorrowful Mysteries

First Mystery: The Agony in the Garden

The Agony in the Garden card
“Father, if you are willing, remove this cup from me. Nevertheless, not my will, but yours, be done.”Luke 22:42

In the Garden of Gethsemane, Jesus prays in anguish as His Passion approaches. His sweat becomes like drops of blood, and He surrenders Himself wholly to the Father’s will.

Fruit of the mystery: Sorrow for sin · conformity to God’s will

Rosary Closing Prayer

O God, whose only begotten Son, by his life, death, and resurrection, has purchased for us the rewards of eternal life; grant, we pray, that meditating upon these mysteries of the Most Holy Rosary of the Blessed Virgin Mary, we may imitate what they contain and obtain what they promise, through the same Christ our Lord. Amen.
