Edith Stein, a Jewish philosopher who became a Catholic and a Carmelite nun, was killed at Auschwitz in 1942; co-patron of Europe.

On Saturdays in Ordinary Time without an obligatory memorial, the Church may honor the Blessed Virgin Mary (optional memorial).
