Second Mystery: The Scourging at the Pillar

On the Sundays of Lent the Sorrowful Mysteries are customary in place of the Glorious.

The Scourging at the Pillar card
“So Pilate then took Jesus and flogged him.”John 19:1

Pilate has Jesus scourged. The innocent Lamb of God bears the blows in silence, offering His suffering for our sins.

Fruit of the mystery: Purity · mortification

Act of Contrition

O my God, I am heartily sorry for having offended you, and I detest all my sins because of your just punishments, but most of all because they offend you, my God, who are all good and deserving of all my love.

I firmly resolve, with the help of your grace, to sin no more and to avoid the near occasion of sin. Amen.
