WhiteEaster Time · Week 3

Third Sunday of Easter

Sunday

Every Sunday is a little Easter, the Lord’s Day, when the Church gathers for the Eucharist. Easter Time is fifty days of rejoicing in the Resurrection, celebrated “as one feast day, or better as one great Sunday,” through Pentecost.

Fifth Mystery: The Coronation of Mary

The Coronation of Mary card
“A great sign was seen in heaven: a woman clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and on her head a crown of twelve stars.”Revelation 12:1

Mary is crowned Queen of Heaven and Earth by her Son. She reigns as Queen and Mother, interceding for all her children.

Fruit of the mystery: Trust in Mary’s intercession

Regina Caeli

Queen of Heaven, rejoice, alleluia. For he whom you were worthy to bear, alleluia, has risen, as he said, alleluia. Pray for us to God, alleluia.

V. Rejoice and be glad, O Virgin Mary, alleluia.
R. For the Lord has truly risen, alleluia.

O God, who gave joy to the world through the resurrection of your Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, grant, we pray, that through the intercession of the Virgin Mary, his Mother, we may obtain the joys of everlasting life. Through the same Christ our Lord. Amen.

Traditional Easter antiphon (12th century)
