Sorrowful Mysteries
First Mystery: The Agony in the Garden

“Father, if you are willing, remove this cup from me. Nevertheless, not my will, but yours, be done.”Luke 22:42
In the Garden of Gethsemane, Jesus prays in anguish as His Passion approaches. His sweat becomes like drops of blood, and He surrenders Himself wholly to the Father’s will.
Fruit of the mystery: Sorrow for sin · conformity to God’s will
The Way of the Cross
We adore you, O Christ, and we bless you, because by your holy Cross you have redeemed the world.
On the Fridays of Lent many parishes pray the Stations of the Cross, following Jesus through fourteen moments of his Passion. You can pray them at church or at home, pausing at each station with this acclamation, an Our Father, a Hail Mary and a Glory Be.
Traditional acclamation of the Stations of the Cross
