Every Sunday is a little Easter, the Lord’s Day, when the Church gathers for the Eucharist. Ordinary Time (from “ordinal,” counted weeks) follows the public life and teaching of Jesus, week by week.

Fourth Mystery: The Assumption of Mary

“The Immaculate Mother of God, the ever Virgin Mary, having completed the course of her earthly life, was assumed body and soul into heavenly glory.”Pope Pius XII, Munificentissimus Deus (1950)

At the end of her earthly life, the Blessed Virgin Mary is taken up body and soul into the glory of heaven, sharing first in her Son’s Resurrection. The Church solemnly defined this truth in 1950.
